OUR APPROACH

We Take Our Time, So You Don't Have To Rush

Maternity and newborn photography move at a different pace than everything else. There's no rushing a newborn, and no directing an authentic moment between a mother and her baby.
Every Infocus session is built around patience first — comfort, safety, and an unhurried pace, with the photographs following naturally from that.

If you're reading this, you're probably deciding whether to trust a stranger with one of the most important days of your life. I understand the hesitation. All I can tell you is — every family in that video felt it too, right up until the moment they didn't.

Stories from families we've photographed

I hated every photo of myself while pregnant — bloated, tired, no makeup, nothing felt worth capturing. The team spent the first twenty minutes just talking to me, no camera in sight, until I actually relaxed into my own skin. This was the first photo in eight months I didn't look away from.

I've never been comfortable being photographed, and I told them so on the phone. They didn't push. They just kept working around me quietly until I forgot the camera was even in the room. Didn't expect to tear up looking at photos of my own family. Did anyway.

We almost skipped the maternity shoot — felt indulgent, honestly, paying someone to photograph me just being pregnant. My sister talked me into it. What surprised me was how much direction they gave without it ever feeling forced — where to stand, how to hold my husband's hand, when to just breathe and stop posing. It's still his phone wallpaper, two years later.

My husband has an actual phobia of being photographed — genuinely, not exaggerating. Before we even started, they sat with him for a few minutes and showed him a couple of test shots, let him see how relaxed he actually looked. That was enough to break something loose in him. By the end he was cracking jokes with the camera still pointed at him.

Nobody warns you how exhausting the first two weeks after delivery actually are. I was ready to cancel twice. When my daughter started crying mid-session, they just paused, let me feed her, waited without a hint of impatience, and started again like nothing had happened. I'm glad someone made space for that instead of rushing us through it.

My son has never sat still for anything in his life, let alone a camera. Instead of forcing him into poses, they just got down on the floor and played with him until he forgot he was even being photographed. Every photo we got back actually looks like him — not a version of him sitting still for once.

My father passed away four months after this shoot. None of us knew it'd be the last time all three generations sat that close, dressed up, in one frame. What I remember most is how unhurried it felt — they let my father settle in at his own pace instead of rushing an old man through poses he wasn't used to. I look at that photo every morning now, grateful someone gave him that patience.
